Between federal grants, Enbridge rebates, and provincial programs, London homeowners can access thousands of dollars in HVAC upgrade incentives. This guide explains what is available, what qualifies, and how to apply.
The landscape of HVAC rebates in Ontario has changed significantly over the past two years. Some programs have been enhanced, others have been cancelled, and new ones have been introduced. This guide reflects the programs available to London, Ontario homeowners as of early 2025. Because these programs change frequently, we recommend confirming current availability before making a purchase decision.
The federal Canada Greener Homes Grant provides up to $5,000 for eligible home energy upgrades including heat pump installation. The program requires a pre-upgrade EnerGuide home energy assessment by a registered energy advisor, followed by a post-upgrade assessment to confirm the improvements. The assessment process adds time and cost to the project but is required to access the grant. Applications must be submitted within 18 months of the post-retrofit assessment.
Enbridge Gas offers rebates of up to $5,000 for London homeowners who replace a gas heating system with an eligible heat pump. The program also offers smaller rebates for smart thermostats, insulation, and air sealing. Unlike the federal grant, the Enbridge program does not require an EnerGuide assessment for most measures, making it faster and simpler to access. Rebates are applied directly to your Enbridge account after the work is completed and verified.
Rebate programs have eligibility requirements and funding limits. Some programs are first-come, first-served and may be paused or cancelled without notice. Always confirm current availability with the program administrator before committing to a purchase.
We are familiar with all current rebate programs available to London homeowners and can advise on which programs your planned upgrade qualifies for. For Enbridge rebates, we handle the contractor registration and documentation requirements. For federal programs requiring an EnerGuide assessment, we can refer you to registered energy advisors in the London area. Our goal is to make sure you capture every dollar of incentive available for your project.
